Aluminium Alloy BS L166 2014A-T4 Clad Sheet
Technical Data Sheet
Aluminium alloy BS L166 is the aerospace specification for 2014A-T4 Alclad sheet and strip. In order to combat 2014A's poor corrosion resistance, L166 is clad with pure aluminium. L166 is the same alloy as L164, and will always meet the chemistry and mechanical requirements for both, but is produced to tighter rolling tolerances. L166 / 2014A is alloyed with copper (3.90-5.00%) giving it high strength, which it retains after its heat treatment. As such L166 finds usage in many aerospace and defence high strength applications. Aircraft Materials stocks L166 in a wide range of sheet thicknesses ready for same day shipment. Many stock items can be dual-certified to both L166 and L164.
